Klose insists winning WC is more important than being tournament's leading scorer

German striker Miroslav Klose has reportedly insisted that if his side loses against Argentina in the World Cup final then his becoming the World Cup's all-time leading scorer would mean nothing.

Klose dethroned Brazilian striker Ronaldo from the record books when he scored Germany's second goal in their 7-1 semifinal victory over the hosts to take his overall tally to 16 goals in 23 games.

Germany has never lost a game in which Klose, who has now scored 71 games in 136 international appearances, has found the target. But the striker maintains that his goalscoring heroics would mean nothing unless they win the World Cup final in the Maracana on Sunday against Argentina, The Daily Express reported.

Klose said that it is a hugely emotional thing for him to get the record but people who know him know that his focus is already on Argentina 100 percent.

The Lazio striker said that he has overtaken Ronaldo as the best goal-scorer but that is something to take on board another day, adding that if Germany loses the final his joy as the top-scorer would be significantly dampened.

Klose also said that he knows from 2002 how bad it feels to lose a final, but added that the German squad is full of confidence that they can win on Sunday.
