A special court has sentenced Mani Anbazhagan, son of late DMK Minister Ko. Si. Mani, to seven years' rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1 crore in a trade-based money laundering case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The case was registered by the Enforcement Directorate.
Anbazhagan's conviction was reportedly related to the outward remittance of foreign exchange to the tune of Rs 78 crore by eight current account holders by submitting forged bills of entry to the Thousand Lights branch of Indian Bank.
