Senior Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader from Bihar on Wednesday said that Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family members have acquired more than 125 properties in last 12 years.

Addressing a press conference here, Modi said that surprising part is that despite not doing any business, the Lalu clan has become owner of these properties.

"From last 90 days, the BJP has been revealing about the benami assets of Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family members. Coincidently, today is foundation day of the RJD. The Lalu clan has acquired more than 125 properties in the last 12 years, that too without doing any business," Modi said.

The BJP leader further added that "apart from these 125 properties, they (Lalu and his family) have become owners of the land worth millions through seven shell companies in Patna, Kolkata, Delhi, and Aurangabad".

Modi added that Lalu and his family members adopted three modi operandi to acquire properties- shell companies, gifts, and bribe.

Giving an example of bungling through shell companies, the BJP leader questioned: "Why businessmen like Prem Chand Gupta, Om Prakash Katyal, Ashok Banthia, Vivek Nagpal, and P Saraogi transferred their companies along with shareholding and directorship to the Lalu family?"

Modi further said that Lalu and his family members also grabbed properties in the garb of gifts.

"Leaders like Raghunath Jha, Mrs Kanti Singh, Late Brij Bihari Prasad and fourth grade employees like Lallan Choudhary and Hridyanath Choudhary gifted properties worth crore of rupees to the Lalu family," said Modi.

He further alleged that "Bihar Finance Minister Abdul Bari Siddquie, late Bihar minister Sudha Srivastava, two time MLC from Bihar Badshah Azad were few person whose costly properties were transferred to Lalu family by paying only a meagre amount of Rs 37000".

The BJP leader concluded by saying that "Lalu family also got properties transferred its name in lieu of giving jobs in railways and awarding contracts".

It is Sushil Modi only who has been revealing the information about the benami assets of Lalu and his family. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has started taking action against Lalu family's benami assets.
