Sri Lanka has taken a big lead in the first innings despite South African captain Hashim Amla's ton as the hosts bowled out the visitors for a total of 282 as the third day of the second Test came to an end.

South Africa currently trail Sri Lanka by 150 runs with 10 wickets still remaining to bat for the hosts. The third day concluded with Sri Lankan openers Upul Tharanga and J K Silva batting for the hosts at their individual score of six and five respectively.

The Sri Lankan bowlers wrapped up the South African batting line up in the first innings. Amla remained unbeaten at his individual score of 139. Vernon Philander was bowled out by the hosts' offbreak bowler Dilruwan Perera for his individual score of nine.

Former Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara caught Dale Steyn for his individual score of 30 and Tharanga caught Imran Tahir for his individual score of 15. Both the players were bowled by Rangana Herath.

Morne Morkel went out for a duck as Silva caught him on Perera's bowl.

Perera claimed five wickets, while Herath claimed four of the South African batsmen.

Sri Lanka will resume batting on Sunday as the fourth day of the second Test will resume with Tharanga and Silva facing the South African bowlers.
