The lawyers staged a protest against Bharatiya Janata Party's chief ministerial candidate and former IPS officer Kiran Bedi here on Monday and allegedly vandalised her campaign office in Krishna Nagar.
The protesting lawyers said the memory of atrocities unleashed by Bedi in 1988 is still fresh in their minds and added that she is not fit to become the Chief Minister of Delhi.
"All Bar Associations are united in the protest against the BJP's declaration of Kiran Bedi as their chief ministerial candidature. The wounds of the atrocities committed by Kiran Bedi in 1988 against the lawyers are still fresh in our minds," said Naushad Khan, an advocate.
"We are of opinion that with her overall conduct, she will is not suitable to become a trustable Chief Minister," he added.
Reacting to the incident, Bedi had earlier in the day tweeted: "My BJP constituency office in Krishna Nagar am informed has been attacked. Informed some injured too. Cutting short Rallies, rushing back."
The lawyers had recalled the incident of 1988 in which they were baton charged in the Tees Hazari Courts on Bedi's orders. She was the DCP of North Delhi when the incident had taken place.
