Leaked details about the Apple Watch have revealed that the tech giant has already ordered five to six million watches to be ready to ship when the device hits the markets in April, a report said.
According to News.com.au, the revelation indicated Apple's "ambitious plan" to quickly dominate the thriving smartwatch market.
Sources "familiar with the matter" said that half of the initial production run will be the Apple Watch Sport model while the high-end 18-karat gold Watch Edition will comprise only a small percentage of it. The gold Apple watch is tipped to be the company's dearest product ever. It is estimated that one million a month of the luxe version will be shipped by the second quarter.
If the sale predictions for Apple Watch prove to be true then the device may meet the popularity of the iPad, which sold 7.5 million units in the first six months.
It would also put Apple on the first spot in the smartwatch market, the report said.
