Australian fast bowling great Brett Lee has backed pacer Jackson Bird to continue to trouble England in the Prime Minister's XI match at Manuka Oval on Tuesday and back his chances for the upcoming three-Test tour to South Africa
Lee will partner with Bird, Ben Cutting and Alister McDermott in a formidable four-pronged pace-attack in front of a sold-out crowd at Manuka Oval.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Bird has been touted as a potential option for the African tour after making an eye-catching comeback from a back injury in the Big Bash League, and Lee has no doubt that that the right-armer can put himself into the frame to add to his tally of three Tests with a strong performance against England.
Praising Bird, Lee further said that the bowler has world-class talent and is feeling fit and energetic again, adding that it would be an impressive pace attack against their old rivals at Manuka Oval.
Lee will turn out for the Sydney Sixers against the Perth Scorchers on Friday night before flying to Melbourne for commentary duties on the first one-day international at the MCG on Sunday, the report added.
