Lee hoping for 'traditional' Oz pitches with 'bouncy, fast' wickets at WC

Former Australia paceman Brett Lee is hoping that the pitches during the World Cup would be their traditional Australian pitches with real bouncy and fast wickets, and has claimed that his country's bowling is very balanced for the tournament.

Speculations are rife that the Australian pitches for the February 14-March 29 tournament might be better suited to batting after a record number of runs were scored during India's recent four-Test series Down Under.

Lee said that the wickets when one plays in India should be low and slow turning wickets, adding that that's what India is about. He added that when one is playing in Australia the wicket should be the traditional Perth wicket that they always see, with real bouncy and fast wickets, while Sydney should have some pace, Sport24 reported.

Lee said that Adelaide should be low and slow, adding that Brisbane should be seaming. He claimed that the wickets should be traditional Australian wickets that they are used to and grew up playing on.

Lee, who is one of the fastest bowlers of his time, feels Australia have the ideal mix of bowlers to dominate batting sides during the 50-over tournament. He said that if they are all firing on one particular day, it's Australia to him that are very balanced.

Lee, who played 76 Tests and 221 ODIs during a 13-year international career, said that the Australians have got a strong bowling attack, with Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood just to mention a few.
