Lennox Lewis denies 'returning to beat one of Klitschkos for 100 mln pounds' report

Former British-Canadian boxing star Lennox Lewis has reportedly denied reports that he was considering returning to the ring to fight one of the Klitschko brothers if he is offered a 100 million-pound purse.

Although Lewis had retired as the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world almost a decade ago, a British daily had quoted him as saying he would fight one of the Klitschkos, who between them hold all the major versions of the world heavyweight title, if he is offered the biggest purse in boxing history.

According to Sport24, however, Lewis denied the report and informed his followers on Twitter that a hypothetical answer to a hypothetical question does not equal reality, adding that he is looking for the next crop of new talent instead of coming back into the ring.

The report mentioned that although Lewis was born in London, he won the Olympic super-heavyweight gold boxing for Canada, where he grew up, at the 1988 Games in Seoul, South Korea.

Meanwhile, the Klitschkos' manager Bernd Boente, who had also rubbished the report, said that Lewis is not fit for a comeback now as he has a 'belly', adding that Lewis always makes such statements when he is in Germany as a guest at a Klitschko fight.

The report also said that Lewis beat Vitali Klitschko on cuts in Los Angeles in 2003 and a year later retired without having boxed again.

Wladimir Klitschko retained his WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO titles with a unanimous points win over Russia's Povetkin in Moscow on Saturday, the report added.
