Electronics maker LG has reportedly announced its team up with Korean messaging service LINE in a bid to develop smarter consumer-appliance interaction.

The electronic's giant recently unveiled its HomeChat app, a virtual assistant service that lets users text message their appliances to issue commands and get status updates.

According to Tech Crunch, the company highlighted at the ongoing CES 2014 in Las Vegas, how users could send messages to their refrigerators to see how many beers are still available or send photos to their televisions to see them on a big screen.

Adding to the 'talking to appliances' feature, LINE appears to be a wise pick, with current registered userbase hovering at around 300 million users and the company's plan to widen the user mark this year is advantageous for LG.

LG CTO Scott Ahn said that the company is trying to ink similar deals with other major messaging services, which could include KakaoTalk or bigger names like WhatsApp or WeChat.
