Actor Lily James has revealed why there's 'no space' for her in the 'Downton Abbey' film.

The 29-year-old, who starred as Lady Rose MacClare in the British drama series, recently confirmed she won't be reprising her role and also explained why.

"My character Rose moved off to New York, so it would be farfetched to bring her back," James told People magazine.

"I would have loved to have come back for a scene, but for a movie, it can't be like a Christmas special and it needs to be a focused storyline," she added.

"There was no space for Rose. (But) I'm so excited for it (movie) - I'm going to be front row," concluded the 'Baby Driver' star.

Meanwhile, it was announced last week that the British historical drama 'Downton Abbey' - which had six seasons and bagged around 15 Emmys Awards, three Golden Globes and a special BAFTA award - is all set to return as a movie.

Directed by Brian Percival, the project will be a Carnival Films production, with Focus Features and Universal Pictures International distributing.

Featuring the actors from the original series including Michelle Dockery, Maggie Smith and Hugh Bonnevill, the movie is written by the creator of the show, Julian Fellowes.
