Sabine Lisicki set a new world record in her women's singles clash against Belinda Bencic as she blasted 27 aces in their second round encounter at the Queen's Club tournament.

The former Wimbledon finalist fired 16 aces in the first set, while the other 11 were in the second set, reported the BBC.

Lisicki has now crossed the record of 24 aces which was jointly held by American Serena Williams and Estonia's Kaia Kanepi.

Delighted with her performance, Lisicki said that the ace was obviously a good weapon to have on grass, after her 6-1 7-6 (7-4) win over her Swiss opponent.
