Liverpool owner John W Henry has said that the club's Premier League title bid is 'ahead of schedule'.
Henry said that Liverpool had its sights set on a top-four finish because they were building the team.
The American said that it is a challenge with the way the league is structured, so if Liverpool is fortunate enough to win this year, then he would say that they are ahead of schedule, the BBC reported.
Henry reportedly took over Liverpool from fellow American Tom Hicks and US hedge fund Mill Financial for 300 million-pounds in October 2010.
The owner appointed Brendan Rodgers as Liverpool's manager in 2012, who has since then put the club on course for their first title since 1990 having been reportedly given a target of reaching the top four this season.
Henry also admitted that the challenge in restoring Liverpool to it's former glories is similar to the one when they took over the Boston Red Sox baseball team in 2002, which ended their 86-year wait for the World Series two years later.
If Liverpool win three matches and draw one from their final four matches, it would secure their first league title in 24 years, the report added.
