Former Indian soccer captain Baichung Bhutia has filed his nomination as the Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate for West Bengal's Darjeeling constituency.
Accompanied by a host of TMC leaders and workers, Bhutia signed the papers at the Darjeeling district election office yesterday.
"People of Darjeeling need to show that politics now is not going to be money, it's not going to be muscle, and it is going to be about people's power. So we are going to fight for people," said Bhutia after filing his candidature.
Polling in the constituency will be held in the fifth phase on April 17.
