RTI activist Commodore (retired) Lokesh K. Batra on Tuesday has written to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) and Department of Posts (DOP) urging them to open the Electronic Indian Postal Order (e-IPO) facility for payment of RTI Fee for Indian citizens in India by the end of this month.

"I humbly propose opening existing e-IPO facility covering 2,492 Central Public Authorities as festival gift to Indian Citizens'," Batra wrote in his letter to the secretaries of both the DoPT and the DOP.

Batra also said that he informed the participants of a Times of India (ToI) RTI Campaign workshop about his pending proposal with Government to open up the existing e-IPO facility for our Citizens' living in India, and added that he felt that it was a policy decision to be taken at DoPT level.

Batra also said that he would be available to share his experience, and suggested that if required a short meeting between the concerned officials of DoPT and DOP could be convened before taking the decision.

The ToI RTI Campaign held eight awareness workshops in the national capital, of two hours each, on October 19 and 20 .

During the workshops, Batra also told the participants about the Government's achievement in facilitating e-IPO facilities for 'Indian Citizens' abroad'.

Presently, the e-IPO facility covers 2,492 Central Public Authorities including NCT Delhi and UTs.
