A loyal Manchester United fan has reportedly been banned by the club from attending away games indefinitely after he got caught with a can of unopened beer upon entering St James' Park at the club's Premier League clash with Newcastle United.
Jamie Bazley has claimed that the can of Stella Artois had been left mistakenly in his bag following the train journey to Newcastle earlier this month.
According to Metro.co.uk, Bazley got cautioned by the police after being stopped at the turnstiles before he was reported to United.
Since the incident United has written to the fan saying that they have been informed by the Police that he had been arrested at the away game and subsequently cautioned for possession of alcohol on entry.
United also wrote that they have worked extensively with the FA, the Police and a number of local authorities to ensure that their supporters are treated fairly and safely when supporting them at away grounds and the process is also linked to the allocation of tickets given to them as the away support.
United further wrote that people who breach these safety measures jeopardize the club's ticket allocations for future matches and as a result Bazley would be banned from attending domestic and European away matches indefinitely.
However, Bazley has claimed that United would still allow him to renew his season ticket at Old Trafford.
Bazley wrote while posting the letter on Twitter that this is how a club treats a fan after he has spent all his money following them, adding that he is still hoping that United would let him renew his season ticket.
