Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam (DMK) general secretary Anbazhagan on Friday justified the suspension of M.K Alagiri from the party, which is headed by his father M Karunanidhi, stating that this decision was taken to maintain decorum in the party.
"In order to maintain the decorum in the party and to keep it organized, the party has taken this decision," he told media here today.
A press statement in Tamil issued by party general secretary Anbazhagan said: "To safeguard the party's intact decisions, disrespecting the party decisions, and disrespecting party forums cannot be accepted."
"Therefore, the organizing secretary of the party M.K Alagiri's association the party will not be feasible to continue. Therefore he is suspended from all party positions temporarily," the statement added.
M. K. Alagiri has been critical of the tie up of DMK with DMDK.
