The Army on Wednesday paid rich tributes to its soldiers General Manoj Kumar Kushwah, Rifleman Prabhu Singh and Shashank Kumar Singh who were killed in Pakistan's dastardly action along the Line of Control in Machhil sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara yesterday.
Chinar Corps Commander Lieutenant General J.S. Sandhu and all ranks paid their homage to the martyrs in a solemn wreath laying ceremony held in B.B. Cantt Srinagar.
All the young soldiers in their mid twenties or early thirties, the trio is remembered by their comrades for their commitment and dedication to duty.
In fact, Rifleman Prabhu Singh who hailed from Jodhpur, Rajasthan and survived by his wife, would have turned 25 today.
General Manoj Kumar belonged to Gazipur in Uttar Pradesh and is survived by his wife and two young children while Rifleman Shashank Kumar Singh, also from the same place, is survived by his parents.
The mortal remains of the martyrs will be flown to their native places where the last rites will be held with full military honours.
The Army said that it stands beside the families of the brave hearts in this hour of grief and remains committed to their wellbeing in future.
