The Rashtriya Janata Party-Nepal (RJP-N), which is an amalgamation of six Madhesh based parties, has decided to make the issue of constitutional amendment the main agenda in the upcoming elections.
Earlier the amendment bill was opposed by the opposition in the Nepal parliament.
RJP-N General Secretary Keshav Jha said," As of now, the main issue for the upcoming election is the constitutional amendment. Our take is that the Constitution is incomplete and the amendment is required to make it complete. We also protested for six months which is the longest protest in the world history."
He further added that they got 57 percent votes in favour the Parliament over their demand and said without Constitutional amendment there won't be peace in the country.
"We made an attempt to amend it and got 57 percent votes in favor in the parliament. But until our demands are fulfilled, there is no point of following this Constitution as without Constitutional amendment there will not be peace in the country."
The RJP-N leader said the revolution will continue that will affect the development.
"The revolution will continue and if this continues there will be no development in the country and development will not be properly implemented. So, we did add the agenda of Development but if it does not guarantee self-respect and identity, there is no use of such a Constitution," Jha said.
The RJP-N vows to gain the required two-third majority in the upcoming polls to make the amendment possible.
RJP- N will be contesting the parliamentary and provincial elections which are slated for November 26 and December 7.
The RJP-N has filed candidacy all over the country and its focus lies on Province No. 2 which is their homeland.
