Pop sensation Madonna has revealed that she suffered a horrific rape at knifepoint when she first arrived in New York to pursue her career.
The 55-year-old singer made the revelation in November issue of Harper's Bazaar magazine, News.com.au reported.
The Queen of Pop wrote that New York wasn't everything she thought it would be, as it did not welcome her with open arms.
She said that during the very first year, she was held up at gunpoint and was raped on the roof of a building after being dragged up with a knife in her back.
In the article, she also wrote about her childhood and rise to fame, admitting that during her teenage years, most people thought she was "strange".
