The Government of Maharashtra has suspended Deputy Inspector General of Police, Sunil Paraskar for being allegedly involved in the rape and molestation of a Mumbai model.
Reports said Chief Minister Prithivraj Chavan has approved a proposal by the state home department in this regard.
A Mumbai court had recently granted Paraskar pre-arrest bail, observing the complainant's behavior and her email exchange with him which suggested consent.
DIG Paraskar had filed a pre-arrest bail application on July 25, a week after an FIR was registered against him by suburban Malwani police.
The complainant, who is a 25-year-old model, has alleged that Paraskar had molested and sexually assaulted her on two occasions in December 2013.
