George Clooney has received an apology from the Mail Online after publishing a false story on his forthcoming marriage to Amal Alamuddin.
'The Descendants' star accused the website of "irresponsibility" with its "completely fabricated story" about Alamuddin's mother objecting to their marriage on religious grounds, the BBC reported.
The website acknowledged in a statement that after they accepted Mr Clooney's assurance that the story was inaccurate they removed the article from their website and they would contact his representatives to set the record straight.
However, the Mail Online also insisted that the story had not been "fabricated" but was supplied in "good faith by a reputable and trusted freelance journalist", nevertheless after becoming aware of the 53-year-old actor's concerns they have launched a full investigation.
