Child rights activist Malala Yousafzai has urged world leaders and specifically Myanmar to take 'immediate action' against the persecution of Rohingya Muslims, a statement released by the Malala Fund said.
Stressing on the right of Rohingyas to avail citizenship in their country of birth, Yousafzai said that they deserved equal rights and opportunities. She added that she stood with the community and urged people everywhere to do the same, reported the Dawn.
The 17-year-old, who is currently studying in the United Kingdom, survived an attack by the Taliban in October 2012.
Last year, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her education campaigning along with Indian children's rights activist Kailash Satyarthi.
