Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday termed it ' unfortunate ' over the alleged misbehaviour by BJP MPs against TMC MPs in Lok Sabha.
"I have received some information when I was in the meeting. I have got some SMS. Kalyan Banerjee talked to me over the phone and briefed me about the situation. I am collecting information from other sources. Whatever has happened is an unfortunate incident and a matter of shock when the new government has started their work," West Bengal chief minister said.
"Parliament is a pillar of democracy and it is a institution which is equal to a temple, mosque, church," she added.
" I will have a word with my party leaders, all of them are shocked.' she further added.
A furious TMC chief said, "I can ask the legitimate rights on behalf of West Bengal, it is a democratic right just like other leaders from Bihar, Tamil Nadu and Punjab do so. Using misbehaving methods and tearing clothes cannot be an option to stop someone from raising demands for the state. I have received so many messages in this regard from journalists in Delhi, where they have told us that our abuses were hurled against our MPs terming them as prostitutes. This is not right."
A new low was witnessed in the Lok Sabha today as Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) MPs levelled allegations of abuse and misbehaviour against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Women MPs from the TMC were vociferous over the alleged misbehaviour conducted by two BJP MPs. TMC MPs were seen rushing out of the Parliament after the reported scuffle.
Meanwhile, in the related incident Trinamool Congress has decided to stage sit in protest in front of Gandhi Statue tomorrow against alleged misconduct of BJP MPs in Parliament.
The BJP on the other hand denied TMC charges and termed it mere drama, instead charged the TMC MPs shouting slogans against Modi and other BJP leaders.
"This is drama. Rail Budget was being presented and TMC workers were raising slogans against PM," BJP MP Jagdambika Pal said.
Earlier today Union Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda presented his maiden Railway Budget where he introduced a slew of reform measures to modernise Indian Railways.
