A man was injured during an attempted attack on the Israeli Embassy in Ankara on Wednesday, Israel's Foreign Affairs spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon said.

Nahshon said the attacker, who appeared to have a weapon, was shot by a security guard and was lightly wounded, reports the CNN.

Reports suggest that the assailant reached the "outer perimeter" of the embassy.

According to local Turkish media, two people tried to enter the tightly guarded embassy, with employees taking refuge in a shelter.
