Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has admitted that he is planning to use Wayne Rooney as a central striker in the upcoming Premier League season.
The Dutchman confirmed that Rooney, who played much of last year as a midfielder, has been placed back to his dominant position.
The 29-year-old footballer scored 34 goals when he last played as a main striker in the 2011-12 season.
Meanwhile, Rooney said that he hopes to score 20 or more goals again, adding that he would be disappointed if he couldn't do that again, the BBC reported.
United will host Tottenham Hotspurs at Old Trafford on August 8 in the league's season-opener.
