Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic will reportedly join Italian club Inter Milan this summer, ending an eight-year connection with the Old Trafford side, with whom he has won five Premier League titles and one Champions League trophy.
The former Spartak Moscow player's existing deal at Old Trafford was due to expire at the end of this season and he had already announced early in February that he would not be signing a new contract.
According to Sport24, no details of the length of contract agreed with the Serbian defender were revealed, although Inter president Erick Thohir confirmed the move, saying that Vidic is a world-class player and is one of the world's best defenders.
Thohir further said that Vidic's qualities, international pedigree and charisma would be an asset to the team and help bring through their younger players.
The report mentioned that it will be Vidic's first spell in Italy's Serie A and the Serbian joins a team who are rebuilding following Thohir's takeover of the club last November.
United have struggled under new manager David Moyes as they have been knocked out of both domestic cups and are currently 18 points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea, the report added.
