Following the devastating terror attack at the Manchester Arena which left 22 people dead, the city's Arndale Shopping Centre was evacuated after rumours of a bomb threat.

Hundreds of people were seen screaming and sprinting out of the shopping mall following the evacuation, The Independent reports.

Witnesses reportedly heard a loud noise of a 'big bang' at the giant shopping centre, following which the action was taken.

Conflicting reports suggested the incident might have been a false alarm amid high tensions following Monday's attack, the local media reported.

A large police cordon has now been set up around the Centre.

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Theresa May has condemend what she called a "callous terrorist attack" at the Manchester Arena following a meeting of the government's emergency Cobra committee.

May said that the U.K. Police "believes they know identity of Manchester attacker, but at this stage of investigation we can't confirm his name."

The Manchester Police had earlier confirmed that a lone male suicide bomber was behind the explosion, during an Ariana Grande concert at the Arena.
