Maoists attacked a land mining site in Jamui district of Bihar, kidnapping around seven workers and setting two machines on fire.
The rebels barged at the site as the sand picking work was on and created ruckus.
"There is information that about 20-25 Maoists had come from Balughat area. They set a poclain machine on fire, which is used for land mining. They also vandalised another vehicle and as per information, kidnapped some of the labourers who were working there," said Superintendent of Police, Jeetendra Rana.
Their demands are still unknown. Rana said that the investigation and search operations are on. Meanwhile, the work has been halted.
Eyewitnesses said that a large number of Maoists came and asked them to remain silent.
"They poured petrol on the machine and set it on fire. They asked us to remain silent and said they would do what they wanted to. They caught and took some people," said a worker, Anil Kumar.
