Mark Wahlberg has signed up to produce and potentially star in a film, called 'Patriots' Day,' about the Boston Marathon bombing in April 2013, which was followed by a city-wide manhunt.

The movie will be based on the first-hand account of Ed Davis, the Boston Police commissioner who played a key role in the hunt for the brothers held responsible for the attack, which Wahlberg might play in the drama, the BBC reported.

CBS Films President Terry Press said that there was nothing more compelling than a real story populated by real heroes.
