Mark Waugh mulling over accepting Oz selector job

Former Australian batsman Mark Waugh is reportedly considering an offer to become a national selector after signing a new deal with Channel Ten's Big Bash League (BBL) commentary team.

Channel 10 confirmed they have re-signed Waugh, Adam Gilchrist and Damien Fleming, who gained favourable reviews for piloting Ten's first season Big Bash coverage.

According to News.com.au, Waugh is mulling over whether to accept an offer from Cricket Australia (CA) to join the new selection panel in July even as rumours abound over current selection chairman John Inverarity not seeking reappointment after his contract runs out in June.

However, Steve Waugh's twin brother said that he is giving deep though to the prospect of becoming Australian team selector even though he is uncertain whether time will permit him to accept the job given his other media commitments.

Waugh said that if he accepted the selector's role there may be times when he have to choose his words more carefully as a commentator, but he believes he could do both roles.
