Ahead of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's address on the Union Budget 2018-19, the market indices opened higher in the morning trade.
The Sensex opened 151.43 points higher at 36,179.18, while NSE's Nifty was at 11,072.85 points.
Top gainers in the morning trade were L&T and M&M, while Tata Steel, Infosys, Vedanta and Bharti Infratel incurred losses.
Meanwhile, the rupee opened at 63.68 for one dollar.
On a related note, the Budget will be presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley at 11 a.m., after a cabinet meeting.
This will be the last full-fledged budget of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government and the first post the rollout of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
