A massive explosion, followed by bursts of gunshots, was reported from Sherpur area in Kabul on Friday.
Reports suggest that the blast appeared to have taken place in a car near the Spanish Embassy in the city's affluent Sherpur area, which has many foreign embassies and government buildings.
No causality has been reported by the time of filing this report.
The security forces rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.
No group has claimed the responsibility of the blast so far.
The blast comes days after an attack on the airport complex in Kandahar which left close to 50 people dead.
