Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief on Tuesday directed Dr M. H. Khan to work in Lucknow for bringing Muslims into the party's kitty ahead of the municipal elections.

It is being seen as a replacement of sacked party leader Naseemuddin Siddiqui, who has levelled serious allegations against Mayawati.

Mayawati has also advised Khan not to participate in the media debates.

She has also directed BSP leaders Faizan And Ummed Singh to only air the party's views on public welfare in the media debates.

"The party high command will only put forward its views on policy related matters," said Mayawati.

Reacting on certain media reports, she asserted that the BSP is not only a political party but also a social movement in which people from all religions, societies, men, women and students are members.
