Ruling out ragging as a possible cause for the alleged suicide of a first year MBBS student of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the Public Relation Officer(PRO) of the reputed institute, D.R. Amit Gupta said they have zero-tolerance policy towards ragging.
"The preliminary inquiry has ruled out any ragging for the alleged suicide of Khusboo Chaudhary. AIIMS has zero-tolerance policy for ragging," Gupta said.
Describing the unfortunate incident in a press conference he said "A first year MBBS student of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was found hanging in her hostel room in the early hours of today(August 30). The incident was reported by other students of the girls hostel at around 2:15 a.m. The AIIMS security and the hostel superintendent immediately rushed to the spot and informed the police."
"The police is now investigating the case and have seized the mobile phone of the student for investigation. However, no suicide note has been recovered from the room of the deceased. She was from Bikaner and her name is Khusboo Chaudhary and had joined the institute on July 10, 2015," Gupta added.
Khusboo was found dead the early hours of Sunday in her hostel room.
