McGrath tips Oz to win Ashes on English soil after 14 years with 'best bowling attack in world'

Australian fast bowling great Glenn McGrath has tipped the Australians to finally win on English soil after 14 years when they face England in the Ashes series, thanks to their 'best bowling attack in the world'.

McGrath has backed the Australian bowlers to 'unsettle' the England batsmen and hold on to the urn they grabbed in emphatic 5-0 whitewash style last year.

Australia have not won in England since 2001, with a team that had McGrath opening an attack that included, Brett Lee, Jason Gillespie and Shane Warne.

And the former fast bowler believes that the quality of bowling at Michael Clarke's disposal would help him go one better than Ricky Ponting and add an overseas Ashes victory to a 5-0 home thrashing, The Mirror reported.

McGrath said that Australia have not won the Ashes in England since 2001 and that is going to change this year. He insisted that there is a fair gap between the two teams at the moment so a fair bit has to happen between now and then, and added that it would be interesting to see what does occur over the next few months to English cricket.

McGrath said that he knows England has got the West Indies tour coming up, adding that they need to find some form. He insisted that it is going to take a big effort from them to be able to compete with this Australia side at the moment.

He knows James Anderson would have a big say on the series especially when the ball swings, but McGrath is confident that whichever trio out of Mitchell Johnson, Ryan Harris, Peter Siddle, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood is picked alongside Nathan Lyon during this summer, it would be good enough to follow in the footsteps of his old teammates.

McGrath claimed that the England bowlers are a handful at home, especially Anderson, but he believes that this Australian side has a bowling attack to unsettle the English batsmen.

McGrath said that playing in front of their home crowds would probably lift England a bit and bowling with the Duke ball would help, adding that once that ball starts swinging then their confidence goes up. But he is very confident that if all the Australian bowlers are fit, it is the best bowling attack in the world.

McGrath also said that the fast bowling cupboard for Australia has been pretty full since he retired, adding that he believes that this crop are full of quality and it would be hard to narrow it down to three to play.
