Northern Irish golf ace Rory McIlroy had set his sights on turning professional and winning all the four Majors when he was only seven years old and he believes that now he has got the chance to do it.

And the world number one has now admitted it would be unthinkable if he never completes his career Grand Slam at the Masters, which begins its 2015 drama next Thursday.

It was revealed this week that as a nine-year-old McIlroy wrote to former world number one Tiger Woods in 1999, warning him that he was coming to get him, The Mirror reported.

However, even before then the Ulsterman, who started playing when he was two, said in a 1998 BBC interview that he aimed to turn pro and win all the Majors.

McIlroy could achieve that feat at Augusta next week to follow in the footsteps of Woods and other golfing legends, with only five having ever won all four Majors in their careers.

And when shown the clip by BBC Northern Ireland, McIlroy said that that gives him goosebumps to think that as a seven or eight-year-old, that's what he was thinking about.

McIlroy said that now he has got the chance to do it, which is incredible, adding that it just shows if one works hard and one has a dream and believes in himself and has the right people around to support him, one can go as far as one wants.

McIlroy claimed that hopefully it is a lesson for all those youngsters back home dreaming about the same thing, adding that it is possible.
