Chinese doctors at the Xiang Ya Hospital were left shocked after they found a five-inch bamboo stick embedded in a woman's cheek for eight months without her knowledge.
The stick was found in a scan photo of Fu Jinfeng, 61, who was taken to the hospital by her relatives after she had trouble opening her mouth to eat and an 8-month-old wound failed to heal, the Mirror reported.
Although surgeons have now successfully removed the foreign object, which is used extensively in China, how the stick got lodged in Jinfeng's face in still a mystery.
