In case Lewis Hamilton's Formula One title bid implodes in Abu Dhabi, Mercedes has put New Zealand national union rugby team, All Blacks', legendary shrink Dr. Ceri Evans on standby for the Briton.

The British driver faces teammate Nico Rosberg in a two-way showdown on Sunday that would decide who becomes champion. Although Hamilton has 10 wins to the German's five and a 17-point lead, he could still lose because of the new double points rule.

Previously Hamilton has rejected using a sports psychologist but team boss Toto Wolff fears the blow of losing could be so severe that he has been planning how to support Mercedes' losing driver as well as celebrate with the winning one, The Mirror reported.

Wolff said that he has looked that far ahead quite a lot, adding that he was impressed by the way Alain Prost acknowledged Niki Lauda winning the championship by just half a point in 1984, even though it was a big blow, and then went on to take three titles in the next four years.

He added that he has told his drivers that they would do their best to make sure they can give them a car that can win championships, so, whatever happens, this would not be the end of their Mercedes career.

Wolff revealed that he told his drivers that they have a relationship with them and would provide them with a car that is capable of winning championships.

Wolff also said that Evans was part of the process at the start of the season and someone they are in contact with but added that the psychological part of the company is something he works on 10 hours a week.
