Mercedes chief executive Toto Wolff has severely censured his both drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, after they crashed into one another again at the Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg last evening.
A clearly miffed Wolff warned his batting drivers that team orders could be imposed in order to prevent more self-inflicted setbacks in the championship, Sport24 reported.
Although Hamilton won the race, the crash on the last lap of the race caused extensive damage to Rosberg's car and also cost the team a potential one-two in the final standings as the German could only finish fourth.
Earlier this season, the pair had knocked one another out of the race and scored nothing at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Reflecting on the unfortunate race, Wolff said repeated collisions are making them 'look like a bunch of idiots' and called for an immediate solution while pointing out that it was disrespectful to those who work hard to prepare the cars.
He also said talking to the drivers had not worked and, therefore, Mercedes could be forced to implement 'the not-very-popular team orders' in order to manage the situation.
Hamilton's win cut Rosberg's lead in the title race from 24 points to 11 ahead of next weekend's British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
