Since leaving the White House in January 2017, Michelle and Barack Obama are enjoying their alone time together, one thing they missed during their eight years of being the president and first lady.
Mrs. Obama opened up about her post-White House life in an exclusive interview with People and also talked about her new memoir 'Becoming', which is on sale now.
"We have dinners alone and chunks of time where it's just us - what we were when we started this thing: no kids, no publicity, no nothing. Just us and our dreams," she said.
The former first lady went on to talk about the couple's recent getaway to Palm Springs, without their daughters, Malia (20) and Sasha (17), which marked "the first time in a long time it was just the two of us," Michelle said.
"And it was good. We swam, we sat, and he wrote because he's still writing his book. So he's a little resentful," she added.
Earlier, Mrs. Obama also revealed some less-known things about her blissful marriage, in an interaction with People, she candidly talked about the troubled times in their seemingly perfect union, highlighting that time when the former first couple sought help from a marriage counselor.
"Because we're role models, it's important for us to be honest and say, if you're in a marriage and there are times you want to leave, that's normal - because I felt that way," Michelle said talking about the troubled times in their marriage.
The couple got engaged in 1991 and soon got hitched on October 3, 1992. The two recently celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary.
