Microsoft is reportedly offering a discount of 100 dollars if users buy a new PC and ditch the old Windows XP system.
The software maker is ending support to its Windows XP OS on April 8 and is desperately providing consumers and businesses a chance to upgrade their systems, lest they become more prone to malware.
According to Cnet, the company's 'discount on new PC' is the latest trick to get users drop the decade-plus old operating system.
If someone owns a PC with XP and upgrades it at the Microsoft Store, he'll get 100 dollars off, 90 days of free support, and a 'free data transfer.'
Microsoft said that the offer includes a new PC or Surface device priced at 599 dollars or more and excludes Surface 2 and some PCs.
End of support for XP in April would mean no security updates or technical support for the old operating system from the company.
In the same month, an improvised and updated version Windows 8.1 operating system would be rolled out in a bid to make it easier for traditional desktop users to get familiar with the latest OS that is touted as more tablet-friendly.
