Pakistan Test and one-day captain Misbah-ul Haq has said that the lack of international cricket in Pakistan is responsible for the slide of the game in the country.
Misbah's statement came in the aftermath of his Twenty20 side Faisalabad Wolves being knocked out of the ongoing Champions League tournament in India.
According to The Dawn, Misbah reiterated calls to address the lack of international cricket in Pakistan, saying that there is a vast difference in the quality of the domestic sides around the world and that of Pakistan.
Stating that the presence of international cricket can be a positive impact on cricketers of a country, Misbah said that in Indian cricket, young players are mature by the time they come into international cricket and know how to handle pressure as compared to their Pakistani counterparts.
The report mentioned that since the halt of international fixtures in 2009 there has not been a great deal done to help lift the crippling domestic structure in Pakistan out of the doldrums it has sunk in.
The report added that there is virtually no better place for a batsman to go through the grind and work on patience than the domestic set-up if he wants to play long innings.
