Misbah to lead Pak Test side for Proteas series despite 'poor results'

Pakistan Test and one-day captain Misbah-ul Haq has reportedly been retained to lead his side for next month's Test series against South Africa despite poor results leading to a first loss to Zimbabwe in 15 years.

Although Misbah's position was announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the other members of the Test squad will be announced later, while batsman Umar Amin has been reportedly selected to captain Pakistan A side in a three-day warm-up game against the South Africans.

According to Sport24, South Africa, which whitewashed Pakistan 3-0 in a Test series at home in February, will meet the Asian country again in two Tests in Abu Dhabi from Oct. 14-18, and Dubai the following week.

The report further said that a training camp for the probables for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) tour would be held in Lahore next week, in which 28 players will participate.

The report also mentioned that left-handed Amin lost his Test place three years ago when he scored only 99 runs in four Tests during Pakistan's controversial tour of England in 2010, in which three Pakistani players were banned for several years over a spot-fixing scandal.

The three-day match will be in Sharjah from Oct. 8-10 followed by the Tests, five one-day internationals and two Twenty20s, the report added.
