Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Working President M.K Stalin on Thursday was detained on his way to Salem near Kaniyur Toll Plaza, as he was to take part in a protest.
Stalin was on his way from Coimbatore Airport and was heading towards Salem when the police arrested him.
Coimbatore Superintendent of Police (SP) Pa Moorthy, along with more than 200 police personnel had been waiting at Kaniyur toll plaza which s on the outskirts of Coimbatore.
Following that, hundreds of DMK members staged a protest at Kaniyur. All of them were arrested and taken to a marriage hall.
Stalin was planning to lead a human chain protest against National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) at Salem today evening.
