Modi Govt. wants people to be 'Daata' rather than 'Yaachak', says Rajnath

Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday praised his government for starting several schemes for people of the country, saying it wants people to be donors (Daata) rather than seekers (Yachak).

"For the first time, our government has tried to connect the people with the banks. Today, if you have the bank account, the subsidies allotted to you will reach you directly. It won't be hindered by middlemen," Singh said while addressing a rally here.

"The government doesn't want you to be the seeker (Yaachak), but it wants you to be the donor (Daata)," he added.

Rajnath also said that the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh not only gave Minimum Support Price (MSP) to the farmers but it gives a bonus upto Rs. 270 to them.

"I want to ask Lalu, Nitish, Sonia ji, why didn't your government ever thought about the welfare of the farmers in this way earlier?" he asked.

Asserting that more than 60 percent of the lands in the country were lacking proper irrigation facility, Singh said that nobody in past took a cognizance of it.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY) for this very purpose which aims to improve the condition of the lands and the farmers as well," he added.

The Home Minister further criticised the grand alliance for its failure to provide basic facilities like water, electricity to people of Bihar.

With just three days remaining for the campaigning for phase one to conclude, leaders from all political parties are making all attempts to woo the voters in the state.

Campaigning for this phase will end at 5 pm on Saturday. Polling for this phase will be held on October 12.

Meanwhile, today is the last date of filing of nominations for the third phase of the assembly polls. Polling for this phase will be held on October 28.
