The Election Commission on Wednesday, took cognisance of the Congress party's complaint and has initiated action against Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for displaying the BJP poll symbol 'Lotus' near the poll booth after he cast his vote.
The poll body has reportedly asked the Director-General-of-Police (DGP) of Gujarat and state chief secretary to initiate action against Modi for displaying the Lotus.
The EC has acted after the Congress lodged a complaint with it. The poll body has sought a report from the district Collector of Ahmedabad on Narendra Modi's press conference earlier today.
