England all-rounder Moeen Ali was booed by fans, during England's T20 match against India, which came as a shock for Ali's family.

According to the Guardian, the family of Moeen Ali has called the booing of the England player at Edgbaston 'disgraceful' after a complaint from a spectator resulted in police classing it as a non-crime hate-related incident.

However, a member of the crowd made an accusation of racially motivated abuse, but after an investigation, the police concluded that no crime had been committed.

No further actions can be taken without a complaint from the all rounder, and he does not want to pursue the matter.

A spokesperson got West Midlands police said that while the booing was perceived by the complainant as being racially motivated; booing is not in itself a crime. Had someone been shouting an offensive term, it would be different.

Munir Ali, Moeen's father, said that they are very disappointed with what happened. It should have been a special day: Moeen was playing for his country in the city of his birth.

He added that the whole family was looking forward to this day, and they were expecting a warm welcome as it is the city he himself was born in and the city his mother was born in.

He further added that Ali was abused from the start. He was abused because he is a Muslim and because of his Pakistan heritage. That is disgraceful.

However, Moeen does not want to report the incident. He wants to concentrate on his cricket and he wants to be a role model for all young people to show that, if you work hard, you can succeed in this country.
