Three-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep, who known for versatility in her roles and her accent adaptation, recently expressed he anger against disgraced Hollywood movie producer Harvey Weinstein, saying that the allegations made against him are "the most gargantuan example of disrespect" permeating every industry.
While talking to the people at the Massachusetts Women's Conference in Boston, the American actress and philanthropist said that she along with other actresses are planning to make a series of "non-negotiable" demands in the wake of the sexual misconduct allegations that have rocked Hollywood, media and politics.
Raising the issue of equality, the 68-year-old actress said that women still don't have enough representation in leadership positions and that impacts how decisions are made, while adding that women in the entertainment industry are prepared to demand equal representation in boardrooms and other improvements to the American workplace, reports pagesix.com.
"We are after 50/50 by 2020," she said to loud applause. "Equal means equal. And if it starts at the top, none of these shenanigans would have filtered down and it wouldn't have been tolerated."
Reportedly, the 13th annual conference was attended by 16,000 people.
