The body of top Indian mountaineer Malli Mastan Babu, who was found dead on April 3 in the Andes, is expected to be brought back to his village in Andhra Pradesh by the end of this week.

According to reports, Mastan's body was brought down to the northern Argentine town of Tucuman on Monday, and was being examined and embalmed in a hospital for the flight back to India.

The embalming process takes about three days, said one of Babu's close friend Satyam Beemasaretti in Hyderabad.

The 40-year-old IIM-Calcutta alumnus, who had climbed seven summits in seven continents in record time, was trying to scale solo Cerro Tres Cruces Sur, the second highest mountain of Chile (6,749m) when he went missing from March 24.
